Research objectives:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly transforming economic governance. In fact, it is affecting how institutions regulate markets, allocate resources, manage risks, and work toward sustainability. AI is now part of decision-making structures, shaping regulatory design, financial supervision, labor markets, and public policy. Therefore, such changes raise important questions about how institutions adapt, remain accountable, and update their governance frameworks for algorithmic systems.

This Research Project will look closely at how AI-driven technologies are changing economic governance in various institutions, countries, and sectors. It aims to explore the regulatory, economic, and social effects of AI, particularly in sustainability, financial stability, and long-term development. Instead of seeing AI as just a technical tool, the Research Project highlights its role as a governance tool that both mirrors and changes political priorities, power dynamics, and institutional structures.

Contextually, submissions to this Research Project can use theoretical, empirical, or policy-focused approaches. Topics may include AI-enabled regulation, macroprudential governance, digital finance, sustainable development, changes in human capital, and institutional adaptation. Comparative and cross-country studies, as well as research on multi-level governance at global, national, or regional levels, are especially encouraged. So, by gathering diverse viewpoints, the Research Project hopes to advance the academic debate on how AI can help build inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic systems, while also highlighting risks, inequalities, and governance challenges that accompany rapid digital change.

In closing, this Research Project offers a space for interdisciplinary discussion of the future of economic governance in the era of AI. It aims to support both academic research and policy discussions on regulation, sustainability, and institutional change.
